Dandiya Dance Show by Dancenbeats
27/07/2017: 12:30 PM - 1:20 PM
On Thursday 27th July at 12.30pm, Devonshire Square will be hosting in its atmospheric Western Courtyard an energetic Dandiya Raas dance performance by Dancenbeats, presented by Akademi South Asian Dance.
The show is part of the "Tales of Silk and Music" Indian Dance Festival, organised by the Devonshire Square's Events Team to celebrate the UK-India Year of Culture.
Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Gujiarat and Rajasthan, in Western India. During the dance, men and women dance in two circles, with sticks in their hands, vigorously whirling and moving their feet and arms in a complicated, choreographed manner to the tune of the music with various rhythms.
The sticks (dandiyas) of the dance represent the swords of the goddess Durga, to which the devotional dance is dedicated.
The show is free attendance and registration is not required.

17 February: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
On Sunday 17th February, in conjunction with London Fashion Week, the atmospheric Western Courtyard of WeWork's Devonshire Square will be hosting two spectacular fashion shows curated and presented by Oxford Fashion Studio, featuring strikingly beautiful and imaginative collections from six independent designers from all continents. The original collections will range from prêt-à-porter to haute couture, including evening and conceptual design. The Devonshire Square Management launched a successful partnership with Oxford Fashion Studio in September 2015 with the aim of supporting some of the most talented and promising rising stars in the fashion industry. WeWork’s Devonshire Square is delighted to continue this productive and exciting collaboration that has significantly contributed to help young independent artists to be internationally recognised for their outstanding talent. Some of the designers presented by Oxford Fashion Studio in Devonshire Square have been featured by Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue (Britain, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, USA), Elle, Grazia, Business of Fashion, Marie Claire, Glamour and more. WeWork's Devonshire Square’s campus is a modern redevelopment of an historic 18th century’s complex of warehouses where the most precious goods traded by the East India Company, including textiles, used to be stored. On the event’s day, its historical brick-walls will provide the backstage for an extravagant display of sartorial creations made with an assorted variety of fabrics, reflecting the unique styles of the talented young designers. The shows are open to the public and tickets are available on the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/london-fashion-week-ofs-aw19-tickets-42670213758 Photo credit: © Patrizia Ilaria Sechi
